A man was killed while attempting to stop a driver who fled a crash in Redwood City on Tuesday night, July 14, 2026.
According to the Redwood City Police Department, officers responded to the incident at around 7:41 p.m. at the 800 block of Woodside Road. Emergency personnel found an adult male victim receiving lifesaving efforts; he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities reported that the victim had been a passenger in a Jeep traveling south on Hudson Street when it was sideswiped by a Ford pickup truck exiting an alley near a Shell gas station.
The Jeep’s driver pulled over, but the pickup continued west on Woodside Road. The victim then exited the Jeep and attempted to stop the fleeing truck when he fell and was struck.
Police located the unoccupied pickup truck using a drone, and it was seized as evidence. Witnesses were interviewed, and surveillance video was collected as part of the investigation.
The circumstances of the fatal incident remain under investigation.
