According to the Eureka Police Department, the collision occurred when a driver made an unsafe U-turn in the middle of the intersection, striking another vehicle.

Authorities reported that the driver who caused the crash was unlicensed and uninsured, and was operating a vehicle with registration that had expired for more than a year.

The severity of the injuries and the identities of those involved have not been released.

The Eureka Police Department and Humboldt Bay Fire continue to investigate the incident.
