A passenger was killed following a head-on collision involving two minivans near Exeter in Tulare County on Sunday afternoon, July 13, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly before 3:00 p.m. near Penlan Avenue and Spruce Road, outside of Exeter.
A silver Honda Odyssey was reportedly traveling northbound on Spruce Road, just north of Penlan Avenue, when the driver veered into oncoming traffic. The vehicle then collided head-on with a southbound gold Chrysler Pacifica.
Authorities stated that the Honda came to rest on the roadway, while the Chrysler ended up in a nearby orange orchard. The Honda driver sustained moderate injuries and had to be extricated after being pinned inside the vehicle.
The right front passenger of the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased has not been released.
CHP indicated that alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash, but investigators are examining whether the Honda driver was distracted by her phone at the time of the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
