An 82-year-old man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while walking in Orangevale, Sacramento County, on Friday afternoon, July 11, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:00 p.m. at the intersection of Greenback Lane and Almond Avenue.
Authorities say the pedestrian was walking along the shoulder of Greenback Lane when he entered the eastbound lanes outside a marked crosswalk and was hit by an eastbound Nissan sedan.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
CHP confirmed that two lanes of eastbound Greenback Lane were temporarily closed following the incident.
The crash remains under investigation.
