A 26-year-old passenger was killed following a single-vehicle hit-and-run crash in downtown Los Angeles early Sunday morning, July 7, 2024.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the deadly vehicular accident happened shortly after 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Pico Boulevard and San Pedro Street.

LAPD reported that the vehicle involved was traveling westbound on Pico Boulevard when its driver, a 21-year-old woman, suddenly lost control and crashed. The female driver then reportedly took off on foot and is still at large at the time of writing.

It is said that at least one person was inside the crashed vehicle when the incident occurred. A 26-year-old passenger was found sitting in the rear seat of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s name, gender, and place of origin have not yet been disclosed.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. LAPD has yet to release an official description of the hit-and-run driver.
