[07-04-2025] 77-Year-Old Woman Killed, Juvenile Injured in Crash on Highway 162 in OrovilleA 77-year-old woman was killed and a juvenile sustained minor injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Oroville on Friday afternoon, July 4, 2025.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 4:25 p.m. on eastbound Highway 162, just east of Loafer Creek Road. 

The woman was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer when, for unknown reasons, she lost control of the vehicle.

CHP stated that the SUV went off the roadway, became airborne, and struck several trees before overturning and landing on its roof approximately 100 feet down a steep embankment.

The driver died at the scene due to the crash. A juvenile passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Authorities said it is currently unknown whether alcohol or drugs were involved. 

The investigation remains ongoing.
