[06-28-2024] San Francisco County, CA – Bicyclist Hospitalized Following Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Collision Along Valencia Street

A bicyclist was hospitalized following a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in San Francisco on Friday evening, June 28, 2024.

According to the San Francisco Fire Department, the incident occurred at about 7:22 p.m. in the center bike lane on Valencia Street, near the San Francisco Police Department’s Mission Station.

Initial reports suggested that an SUV driver struck a cyclist riding in the center bike lane along Valencia Street. The driver is believed to have attempted a sudden U-turn that cut across the bike lane, causing the crash.

When authorities arrived, they found the victim, whose name, age, and gender were unknown, in the middle of the street with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was reportedly transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment.

It is not immediately known if the driver was injured as well. There is also no word yet whether drugs or alcohol were involved in the accident. 

No further information was provided at this time. The collision is still under investigation.
