According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Highway 160 near Brannan Island Road in Mackenson.

CHP officers said that the accident involved at least three vehicles. It is still unknown how the crash happened, including who was responsible. The possible involvement of drugs, alcohol, and speeding is also unclear at the time of writing.
