All southbound lanes of Highway 101 near Carpinteria in Santa Barbara County were blocked Thursday night, June 25, 2026, following a multi-vehicle crash.
According to the California Highway Patrol, emergency crews responded around 8:22 p.m. near Santa Claus Lane for a collision involving at least three vehicles.
Early reports indicated that approximately 100 feet of guardrail and six posts were damaged in the crash.
At least one person was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital. Three additional individuals sustained minor or no injuries.
CHP also reported receiving information that vehicles may have been racing in the area prior to the collision.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
