A 25-year-old man was killed, and another person sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash at a rural intersection in Madera County on Wednesday evening, June 24, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded around 6:30 p.m. to the intersection of Avenue 18 1/2 and Road 19. \Investigators said a Toyota Tacoma traveling northbound on Road 19 failed to stop at a stop sign and entered the intersection, where it collided with a westbound Hyundai Tucson.
Both vehicles overturned and came to rest in an orchard northwest of the intersection. The driver of the Toyota, a 25-year-old Madera man, was ejected after not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old Chowchilla man, was wearing a seat belt and sustained moderate injuries.
