Minor injuries were reported after a crash involving a passenger vehicle and a big rig carrying a wide load on Highway 33 in Stanislaus County on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol Modesto office, the passenger vehicle had pulled over when the driver attempted to pass through a narrow gap between it and an oversized commercial truck. The maneuver resulted in a collision.
Authorities said the impact caused significant damage to the vehicle, though all individuals involved survived with minor injuries. Investigators noted that the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
CHP stated the incident serves as a reminder of the risks of unsafe passing maneuvers, particularly near wide-load vehicles. The crash remains under investigation.
