[06-22-2024] One Person Critically Injured After Two-Vehicle Hit-And-Run Crash in San JacintoOne person was critically injured after a two-vehicle hit-and-run crash in San Jacinto on Saturday night, June 22, 2024.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened at about 10:05 p.m. near the intersection of Ramona Expressway and Old Mountain Avenue.

The accident involved a blue Kia and a silver Chevrolet. Investigators stated that the Kia was traveling eastbound on Ramona Expressway at a high rate of speed and was allegedly passing other motorists in front using the westbound lane.

The Kia then reportedly crashed into the Chevrolet while trying to pass it. The impact of the collision pushed the Chevy off the roadway, causing it to overturn.

Upon arrival, responders found the Chevy driver with critical injuries. The driver, whose name, age, and gender were not disclosed, was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in stable condition.

The Kia’s driver managed to escape the scene before the authorities arrived. At this time, no official description of the hit-and-run driver has been provided.

Ramona Expressway between East Esplanade Avenue and Old Mountain Avenue was blocked off momentarily as the investigation ensued.
