A 33-year-old man was killed when the big rig he was driving overturned on the westbound Interstate 10 near Desert Center in Riverside County on Sunday morning, June 21, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. east of Red Cloud Mine Road.
A 2011 Freightliner truck veered off the roadway into open desert terrain, over-corrected, and struck a metal guardrail, causing the vehicle to overturn onto its left side.
The driver, identified as Jose B. of Santa Monica, was pronounced dead at the scene. Three passengers in the truck sustained minor to moderate injuries and were taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to have contributed to the crash. CHP continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
