A driver was killed, and another was injured after a two-vehicle crash in San Jacinto on Friday evening, June 21, 2024.
According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the collision happened at about 10:10 p.m. near the intersection of San Jacinto and Esplanade Avenues.
Authorities stated that two vehicles were found in the crash site, one of which was overturned. Details on how the collision occurred were not disclosed, but both drivers were reportedly trapped inside their vehicles. Emergency personnel performed an extrication procedure and were able to rescue the victims.
Both of the drivers, the sole occupants of the vehicles, were transported to a hospital with major injuries. One of them was later pronounced dead, and the other was listed in stable condition. Their names, ages, and places of origin were not disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. Alcohol, drugs, and speeding are being investigated as factors of the crash.
