[06-20-2026] San Mateo County, CA – Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Vehicle on Highway 101 in Redwood City.webpA pedestrian was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 101 just south of Whipple Avenue in Redwood City on Saturday morning, June 20, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a preliminary investigation found that the pedestrian was walking and running in the highway lanes in the predawn hours. A Mazda SUV struck the individual in the far left lane.

The pedestrian, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the Mazda were not injured. 

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the incident and are seeking additional witnesses.
