[06-20-2024] Rider Killed, Driver Injured After Motorcycle Vs. Vehicle Head-On Collision in Lucerne Valley A rider was killed, and a driver was injured after a motorcycle vs. vehicle head-on collision in Lucerne Valley, San Bernardino County, on Thursday afternoon, June 20, 2024. 

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at about 6:25 p.m. along Highway 247 at Visalia Avenue. 

Authorities stated that a 2020 Toyota Corolla was reportedly driving southbound on the freeway and went to the left of the solid yellow line to overtake slower-moving vehicles. A 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle was heading north along the highway and collided head-on with the Toyota.

As a result, the 42-year-old rider, identified as Kristina K., was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries. Paramedics pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the Toyota, identified only as a 43-year-old Apple Valley man, sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. 

Police said that the car also contained a passenger, but it was unknown if that person was injured. As of writing, the cause of the collision remains unclear. DUI does not appear to be a factor in the crash. 

The authorities have yet to release additional details. Investigations are ongoing.
