A woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Bakersfield early Friday morning, June 19, 2026.
According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded at around 12:54 a.m. to the 3600 block of California Avenue near Real Road following reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle.
Authorities reported that the woman was found in the roadway suffering from life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a hospital and remains in unstable condition.
The pedestrian was struck in the eastbound lanes of California Avenue outside of a marked crosswalk.
Investigators stated that the driver involved fled the scene before officers arrived.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no suspect information has been released.
