A 19-year-old woman was killed after a bicycle vs. truck collision in Shasta County on Wednesday morning, June 19, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 9:45 a.m. on Deschutes Road.
Authorities stated that a 19-year-old woman from Redding was riding her bicycle and crossing Deschutes Road from the west to the east side of the roadway. Meanwhile, a tractor-trailer was traveling southbound when, for some reason, it struck the woman.
CHP said that the woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to her injuries. It is unknown what caused the collision. Drugs, alcohol, and speeding were being investigated as possible factors in the crash.
