According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly incident occurred just before sunset on Walerga Road.

CHP said that the teenage pedestrian, later identified as Shawn J., was walking home in the bike lane of Walerga Road along the guardrail because the roadway lacked sidewalks. Moments later, an unspecified vehicle struck him before it quickly fled the scene.

Shawn J. suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash, including broken bones and brain trauma, and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. On June 20, the victim’s family announced that the patient died at the facility due to his many injuries.

The victim’s family is now pleading for help from anyone who may have information that could help locate the hit-and-run suspect. They can reach out to the authorities by dialing 916-798-0975.
