[06-13-2026] Kern County, CA – One Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on 24th St in Bakersfield.webpA 24-year-old man was killed following a head-on crash on 24th Street in Bakersfield early Saturday morning, June 13, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers were called to the 2300 block of 24th Street at around 1:04 a.m. Police found two heavily damaged vehicles in the westbound lanes.

Authorities stated that one driver was traveling at a high rate of speed in the wrong direction with no lights on before colliding head-on with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver who died was later identified by the Kern County Coroner’s Office as 24-year-old Steven B. of Bakersfield. Officials stated that impairment appears to be a factor in the crash.

Authorities continue to investigate the collision.
