One person was killed, and four others were injured after a vehicle went off the 18th Street overpass and landed on the southbound lanes of Interstate 280 in San Francisco early Friday morning, June 12, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after midnight when a vehicle carrying five people left the overpass and struck the roadway below. The vehicle caught fire upon impact.
Four occupants were able to exit the vehicle, while one person became trapped inside and died at the scene. The four survivors were transported to a hospital for treatment and are recovering.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
