A man was killed after being struck by a big rig in the Keyes area of Stanislaus County on Monday morning, June 9, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 9:31 a.m. on northbound Highway 99, just north of East Keyes Road.
A man exited the driver’s seat of an Acura coupe that was parked on the right shoulder and stepped into the slow lane, where he was hit by a 2022 Freightliner.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported the man to a nearby hospital with major injuries. He was later pronounced dead.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the man entered the roadway intentionally or if it was an accident.
The incident remains under investigation.
