A pedestrian was injured after getting hit by a U-Haul vehicle in downtown San Diego on Sunday morning, June 9, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the pedestrian vs. vehicle accident happened at about 11:25 a.m. at C Street and 9th Avenue.
SDPD said that a U-Haul pickup truck, for some reason, jumped the curb around the intersection and struck a pedestrian and a parking meter nearby before ultimately crashing into a wall.
The pedestrian that was hit tried to walk away despite sustaining minor injuries but was later taken in by the police for a psych evaluation. They reportedly caught up to her a few blocks away from the crash site. The victim’s identity and current condition are not available at this time.
There is no word yet about the U-Haul driver’s status. It is also unclear if they stayed at the scene.
SDPD is still investigating the circumstances of the incident. The authorities will provide additional information as soon as they have it.
