One person was killed following a pedestrian vs. vehicle collision in Concord on early Sunday morning, June 9, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:22 a.m. on southbound Highway 242 south of Clayton Road.
Authorities stated that a burgundy Tesla Model was heading southbound on the highway in the left lane when it collided with a pedestrian. The driver of the Tesla was not injured, but details of their identity were not disclosed.
Police said that the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name, age, and place of origin were not immediately known. The cause of the collision is being investigated, as well as if drugs or alcohol played a role.
No additional information was released, and the authorities are gathering all the necessary details to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
