Two people were killed after a suspected DUI wrong-way crash in Ventura early Saturday morning, June 8, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal accident happened just before 2:30 a.m. along Highway 101, north of Seaward Avenue.
Officers said they first received several reports of a Volkswagen Jetta traveling southbound on Highway 101 near Emma Wood State Beach using the northbound lanes. The wrong-way car was said to be going at about 80 mph, adding more hazard to the situation.
Minutes later, they received another call stating that the Jetta had collided head-on with a 2011 Nissan Versa along the fast lane of the highway just north of Seaward Avenue.
Both the driver and the passenger inside the Versa died as a result of the collision. The victims were both men in their 50s. No further details were provided about the identities of the deceased individuals.
The wrong-way driver, later identified as Evan B., 21, only suffered knee pains. He was taken to the hospital for treatment before being booked into the Ventura County Jail on charges of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury.
Information about any additional developments was not immediately available. Police work is underway.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
