A passenger was critically injured following a multi-vehicle collision involving an SUV and a big rig on U.S. Highway 101 in Petaluma, Sonoma County, on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 1:15 p.m. in the southbound lanes near East Washington Street.
Authorities reported that a GMC Acadia SUV, driven by a 19-year-old Petaluma woman, was speeding and collided with a big rig before striking another vehicle.
The SUV rolled over several times, ejecting the driver and a male passenger. The passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries and remained in critical condition as of Sunday. A 15-year-old passenger in the SUV sustained lesser injuries and was treated and released.
Officials stated that the driver of the SUV was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
