A skateboarder was seriously injured after being struck by a suspected DUI vehicle in Fox Canyon, San Diego, on Thursday night, June 6, 2024.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the crash happened around 11:52 p.m. at 3600 Euclid Avenue.
Authorities stated that a 20-year-old woman in a 2009 Honda Accord was suspected of driving at a high rate of speed when she struck the skateboarder and fled the scene. The skateboarder, whose name, age, and gender were not immediately known, suffered serious head and torso trauma. Their injuries were considered life-threatening due to the severity of the crash.
The woman was apprehended by the responding officers three hours later after her vehicle was disabled at Fairmount Avenue and Interstate 8. She was uninjured and arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
No further details surrounding the incident were provided at this time. The SDPD is still investigating the crash.
