Injuries were reported following a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck in Costa Mesa on Thursday morning, June 6, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 8:54 a.m. on the southbound side of SR-405 near the State Route 73 connector.
Authorities stated that the collision involved at least six vehicles, including a semi-truck and a Toyota Prius. After the initial collision, the semi-truck flipped onto its side due to the impact of the crash. Details on how the collision occurred were unclear but the responding officers confirmed that there were injuries reported.
The total number of people injured and the extent of injuries were not immediately known. At this time, the cause of the crash remains undisclosed.
Police shut down several lanes of the freeway to investigate the accident further and clean up the crash site. At around 10:30 a.m., SigAlert was canceled, and the roadway had been cleared.
