[06-03-2024] 52-Year-Old Cyclist Seriously Injured Following Bicycle Vs. Vehicle Collision in Apple ValleyA 52-year-old cyclist was seriously injured following a bicycle vs. vehicle collision in Apple Valley, San Bernardino County, on Monday night, June 3, 2024. 

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the crash happened around 9:10 p.m. on Thunderbird Road and Wichita Road. 

Authorities stated that a black Ford Explorer, driven by a 36-year-old driver, was traveling eastbound along Thunderbird Road in the number 1 lane approaching Wichita Road. The 52-year-old man riding on his bicycle was also heading in the same direction when he was struck by the vehicle. 

The cyclist sustained critical injuries and was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. He was then airlifted to another hospital for further treatment. 

Police said that the driver of the Ford stayed at the scene to cooperate with the authorities. At this time, no information is available regarding the official cause of the accident. 

The investigation continues. Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call the police as soon as possible.
