According to the Yuba City Police Department, the fatal incident happened just before 8:42 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 20 and El Margarita Road.

YCPD said that 39-year-old Chloe F. was traveling northbound along El Margarita Road with a 4-year-old girl on an SUV when she drove through a stop sign and turned into the wrong lane on Highway 20. Her vehicle then collided head-on with a pickup truck with six people inside.

All six occupants of the pickup truck were transported to a local hospital after sustaining varying degrees of injuries. One of them, later identified as Bryan D., was pronounced dead at the facility shortly after. It is currently unknown if the deceased was the driver of the pickup truck or one of its many passengers.

Meanwhile, both Chloe F. and her child passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries. They were also taken to the hospital to recover.

YCPD believes that Chloe F. was driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident occurred. No charges have been filed against her yet, but that could change as soon as the authorities conclude their investigation.

There was no further information available at this time. Police work is underway.
