A passenger was killed, while a driver was seriously injured following a single-vehicle crash in San Diego in the early hours of Saturday, June 1, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal vehicular accident happened around 2:30 a.m. along eastbound State Route 52 inside the Kearny Mesa community.
Officers stated that a man driving a Nissan with a passenger was going east on SR 52. For some reason, the driver veered to the right shoulder of the roadway, where his vehicle struck a large eucalyptus tree. The Nissan then burst into flames soon after.
CHP officers tried extinguishing the fire themselves while waiting for the San Diego Fire Department to arrive. Upon arrival, they found the driver lying outside the vehicle. He reportedly suffered major injuries and was transported to a local hospital to recover.
Meanwhile, his passenger was trapped inside the vehicle and died. It is still unclear if the victim died from the impact of the crash or from the fire itself. The victim’s name, age, and gender were not immediately available.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. No further details were released at this time.

What A Lawyer Can Do For You
Many victims put off calling a lawyer even if they sustain injuries after an accident. However, lawyers can help you in many ways. They can provide you with police reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements to strengthen your case. Your attorney will also negotiate with insurance companies to get you fair compensation. The best part is that they will do all of these things for you at no upfront cost. So if you’re injured in an accident, hire a personal injury attorney to recover medical bills, car repair costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
