Two people were killed following a fiery two-vehicle collision involving a commercial truck near Culver City on early Friday morning, May 31, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:13 a.m. on the Santa Monica (405) Freeway and National Boulevard.
Authorities stated that two vehicles, a Toyota Prius and a commercial truck, were involved in a fatal collision on the northbound 405 Freeway. For unknown reasons, both vehicles collided, causing the Prius to catch fire.
A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities have not been disclosed at this time.
As the CHP investigated the cause of the collision, all lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours in response to an agency SigAlert.
The cause of the crash remains unclear. It is unknown if there is anyone else injured.
