A 20-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection in Escondido on Wednesday night, May 28, 2025.
According to Escondido Police, the crash occurred shortly after 7:35 p.m. as the motorcyclist was traveling south on Centre City Parkway near Nutmeg Street.
At the same time, a 67-year-old driver in a Hyundai Ioniq attempted to make a left-hand turn from Nutmeg Street to go north on Centre City Parkway, resulting in a collision.
The motorcyclist, an Escondido resident wearing a helmet, was ejected from his motorcycle and sustained critical injuries. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. His identity has not been released pending next-of-kin notification.
Authorities said the driver remained at the scene and contacted police. No drugs or alcohol were suspected, and there were no witnesses or surveillance footage available.
Investigators are working to determine whether speed, failure to yield, or both contributed to the crash.
