According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 5:04 p.m. along State Route 88 near Red Lake.

Officers said that one of the riders involved died as a result of the incident but did not confirm if the other was injured or not. Both motorcycles involved were said to be obstructing incoming traffic when responders arrived.

The accident resulted in an extended period of traffic disruption around the area as the authorities investigated and the towing services cleared the roadway.

The circumstances behind the motorcycle collision remain unclear. CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash and the possible factors that may have contributed to it.
