[05-26-2026] El Dorado County, CA – One Dead, Three Injured After SUV Crashes into American River on Highway 50.webpOne person was killed and three others, including two children, were injured after an SUV veered off Highway 50 and crashed into the American River in El Dorado County on Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision occurred around 4 p.m. off Ice House Road near the south side of the American River. 

Authorities reported that four people, two adults and two children, were in a Hyundai SUV, which came to rest in the water near the shoreline.

CHP stated that the crash occurred during rainy conditions. Investigators indicated that unsafe speed for wet conditions is a likely factor, while alcohol involvement has been ruled out.

Officials confirmed that a female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining three victims, a man and two boys, were transported to Marshall Hospital with serious injuries. 

Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
