According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the fatal accident happened at about 7:37 p.m. on the transition road between westbound Interstate 10 and Highway 62.

The circumstances behind the vehicular collision remain unclear, including the total number and what kind of vehicles were involved.

Authorities confirmed two casualties as a result of the incident, both of whom were declared dead at the scene. Meanwhile, three others were reportedly taken to a trauma center after sustaining moderate injuries. None of the injured persons were identified as of yet.

The transition road was closed momentarily as the authorities investigated and cleaned up the crash site.
