Two people were hospitalized following a two-vehicle DUI collision in Vallejo on Saturday afternoon, May 25, 2024.
According to the Vallejo Police Department, the incident occurred near Maple Avenue and Webb Street.
Police said the two vehicles collided after one made an unsafe turning maneuver. The driver responsible for the crash, later identified as Nathan K., 23, showed signs of being under the influence of marijuana at the time of the accident.
It is said that the suspect tried to flee the scene brandishing a firearm but was stopped by onlookers before being arrested by the police. Nathan K.’s firearm, which was loaded, was then turned over by the witnesses.
The other vehicle involved reportedly had two occupants when it was struck. Both of them suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to a local hospital for further medical care. There was no immediate word on the identity of the victims.
The impaired driver now faces several felony charges, including hit-and-run causing injury, DUI, and carrying a loaded firearm in public. Bail was set at $25,000 for each charge against him in Solano County Jail.
