One person was killed following a multi-vehicle collision in Los Alamitos in the early hours of Saturday, May 25, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash happened at about 2:01 a.m. along the northbound side of the San Gabriel River (I-605) Freeway at Katella Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found several damaged vehicles and a person lying in one of the freeway’s middle lanes. It is unclear how many vehicles or people were involved in the crash at the time of writing.
The still-unnamed victim was declared dead at the scene. The authorities have yet to confirm whether the deceased was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved or a pedestrian who got caught up in the accident. There were no other injuries reported at this time.
Several lanes of I-605 were closed while the officers investigated and cleared up the scene.
The authorities are still gathering all the evidence they can find to determine the cause of the accident and the factors that may have contributed to it.
