One person was killed, and another was injured after a pursuit led to a reckless vehicle collision involving a DUI in Garden Grove on Saturday evening, May 25, 2024.
According to the Garden Grove Police Department, the crash happened around 9:50 p.m. near Taft Street and Trask Avenue.
Authorities stated that an allegedly stolen vehicle was traveling in the area of Taft Street and Garden Grove Boulevard. The officials tried to stop the vehicle, but the teenage driver sped away, prompting a pursuit along the roadway.
The suspected driver then collided with three vehicles and attempted to flee on foot following the crash. Officers were able to capture the suspect, but the passenger in the stolen vehicle exited the vehicle and has not yet been located.
Police said that two people suffered major injuries and were transported to the hospital in critical condition. One of the victims, identified as 34-year-old Kevin L., died due to injuries.
DUI appears to have been a factor in the collision. The suspect’s identity was not disclosed because he is a juvenile.
