A 22-year-old man from Hayward sustained major injuries in a crash involving a semi-truck on State Route 70 near Striplin Road in East Nicolaus, Sutter County, on Saturday, May 24, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on the southbound side of State Route 70 and prompted a temporary road closure.
Authorities said the driver of a white Prius had been speeding and weaving in and out of lanes before the collision.
While changing lanes, the Prius struck the rear of a semi-truck, veered off the road, and overturned several times.
The driver was airlifted to a local trauma center with major injuries. His current condition is unknown.
The roadway has since reopened. The crash remains under investigation by CHP.
