[05-23-2026] El Dorado County, CA – Driver Killed in Crash on Highway 50 Near Sierra-At-Tahoe Resort

A driver was killed following a collision near the Sierra-At-Tahoe Resort entrance on Highway 50 in El Dorado County on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 5 p.m. at Sierra-At-Tahoe Road by the Sierra-At-Tahoe Resort sign.

Authorities stated that a 33-year-old man from Sacramento was driving a Honda Fit westbound when his vehicle crossed into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe.

The Chevrolet driver was transported to a hospital with moderate injuries, while the Honda driver was pronounced dead at the scene. No other occupants were reported in either vehicle.

Officials stated that drugs and alcohol are not considered factors in the collision. The identity of the deceased driver has not been released.

The  investigation remains ongoing.
