Eight people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in Sylmar, Los Angeles, on Thursday afternoon, May 23, 2024.
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the crash happened around 3:00 p.m. at a three-way intersection in the 14900 block of West Hubbard Street.
Authorities stated that at least four vehicles were involved in the crash, including four children ages 6 to 12. Some of the children were improperly restrained and at least two of the children were sharing one seatbelt.
None of the occupants of the vehicles were ejected, but two adults were hospitalized in critical condition. Four juveniles sustained minor injuries and were also transported to the hospital, while two other individuals refused ambulance transport.
The extent of injuries is unclear at this time. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Further information on the crash has yet to be released by the authorities. Investigations are ongoing.
