A passenger sustained moderate injuries after a suspected DUI crash into a gas station sign at the Fastrip on Mt. Vernon Avenue and Niles Street in Bakersfield on Thursday night, May 22, 2025.
According to authorities, 20-year-old Derek S. was allegedly driving under the influence when he crashed his vehicle into the sign. The front seat passenger was transported by ambulance for medical treatment.
The California Highway Patrol, Kern County Sheriff’s Office, and Hall Ambulance responded to the scene.
The driver was arrested in connection with the incident. The crash remains under investigation.
