One person was killed and two others were critically injured following a multi-vehicle crash in Contra Costa County, on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2025.
According to authorities, the crash was reported at approximately 5:26 p.m. at the intersection of Kirker Pass Road and Hess Road.
Emergency responders arrived to find one vehicle on fire and several people with serious injuries. A fire that spread to nearby vegetation was quickly extinguished by fire crews.
One victim was airlifted from the scene by helicopter, while another trapped motorist had to be extricated from their vehicle.
Kirker Pass Road was closed following the crash, causing significant traffic delays in the surrounding area.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
