Two men were killed and another person was rescued after a fiery crash on southbound Interstate 5 near Westley in Stanislaus County on Sunday evening, May 18, 2025.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5:11 p.m. when a Jeep traveling southbound veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and went down an embankment into Ingram’s Creek. The vehicle caught fire shortly after the crash.
A passing motorist stopped and ran down the embankment, managing to pull the right front passenger from the vehicle before they sustained any major injuries. First responders later pronounced the driver, a 21-year-old man from Tracy, and another 23-year-old Tracy man dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.
