A 43-year-old Redding man was arrested after allegedly causing a series of hit-and-run crashes while driving under the influence in East Redding on Sunday night, May 18, 2025.
According to the Redding Police Department, the incidents began around 7:30 p.m. and involved multiple collisions in the area of Hilltop Drive and Dana Drive.
The suspect, identified as Braden T., reportedly struck three vehicles and several light poles.
Shortly afterward, the suspect’s silver Nissan Pathfinder was found to have crashed into another light pole near the intersection of Churn Creek Road and Whistling Drive. Witnesses reported seeing him attempt to flee the scene.
Responding officers determined that Thorpe was intoxicated, with a blood alcohol concentration of approximately 0.36%—more than four times the legal limit.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence.
