A 21-year-old woman was killed, and a driver was injured following a DUI single-vehicle crash in McFarland on Saturday evening, May 11, 2024.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 8:21 p.m. on northbound Highway 99, south of Sherwood Avenue.
Authorities stated that a 17-year-old driver from Compton was driving when he veered to the right side and off the roadway. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a raised dirt or rock embankment, overturned, and came to rest on its roof.
The 21-year-old female passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. She was identified as Lizae Jiselle P. from Vacaville. Meanwhile, the driver was transported to the hospital with major injuries.
Police arrested the driver for vehicular manslaughter, driving under the influence of drugs, and failure to possess a valid California driver’s license.
Further details regarding the incident have yet to be released by the investigators.
