A motorcyclist was killed after broadsiding a sedan at the intersection of 120th Street and Freeman Avenue in Hawthorne on Tuesday night, May 6, 2025.
According to the Hawthorne Police Department, officers responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist just before 9:00 p.m. near the intersection, located between Hawthorne Boulevard and Prairie Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers found a heavily damaged motorcycle, a sedan, and the unresponsive motorcyclist lying in the roadway.
Emergency personnel provided medical aid at the scene and transported the motorcyclist to a nearby trauma center, where they were later pronounced deceased. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the motorcyclist.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on 120th Street when the sedan attempted to cross northbound at Cedar Avenue, resulting in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not disclosed whether impairment was a factor.
