[05-05-2026] Kern County, CA – One Killed, Another Injured After Car Crashes into Tree in Bakersfield.webpOne woman was killed, and another sustained injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Bakersfield on Tuesday afternoon, May 5, 2026.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers responded around 4:56 p.m. to the 2600 block of South H Street near Wilson Road.

Authorities reported that a black Chevrolet sedan traveling northbound on South H Street veered off the roadway for reasons still under investigation and crashed into a tree located in the center median. The driver suffered moderate injuries, while the passenger was pronounced dead.

Officials stated that excessive speed does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, though investigators are examining whether the driver may have been under the influence.

The identity of the passenger has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
