A teenage girl was killed, and several people were injured following a multi-vehicle collision in San Leandro on Sunday morning, May 3, 2026.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 11 a.m. on northbound Interstate 880.
Authorities reported that a BMW 535i struck a Honda Accord, causing a rear passenger in the BMW, a teenage girl, to be ejected from the vehicle. She was then struck by an oncoming box truck that collided with the crash scene.
The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW and a juvenile passenger fled on foot, while another passenger remained in the vehicle with injuries and was transported to a hospital along with the driver of the Honda Accord.
The 19-year-old driver of the BMW was later located and arrested at his residence.
Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
